The “Ark” was supposed to be a Joke BUT it is becoming more and More tempting by the day.
We ventured to the nether regions of the property to ” The Land that TIME FORGOT” this weekend. And I set about the roadside hedge whilst Martina cleared the weeds from the Pond and the stream that runs from it .,. The area the water ends up is Really like a Clip from a remake of Journey to the centre of the earth. Moss covered overhanging branches God only knows where we start with this , But it will become clearer when we have cleared the Brambles on the Field side.. Hopefully anyway!!.
Martinas passion is for clearing streams. Well this one even tested her as at one end is a Pond Full of weed ( some dead so it stinks ) and more frog-spawn than you can point a stick at , After she had cleared the floating weed , We had a a visit from two mallard ducks ( Our guess is they had not noticed it was a pond before as it was camouflaged.)
And Martina found some “Ebdon” (we think he meant Embden) geese for sale on Facebook , So i was duly dispatched to take a look . There were a lot Living in a barn with a load of ponies waiting to go to slaughter. There was one that stood out as it was definitely NOT an Embden she has grey colouring and is certainly a west of England . The other I picked was lots smaller than the rest and was being picked on by the larger birds , She was duly rescued ( Because I’m soft OK! ) .. Well Mr Toulouse la Goose did not take kindly to the “new kids on the block” and set about them NOT really fair as he wieghs in at about 15kg and they are half that size. The only option we had was to seperate them and put the new arrivals in with “Eric n Ernie” Who to be fair didnt give them a second look they are used to having Fowl around. In fact they are living under eric n erns “Play Station” .. We have given them extra feed as they looked quite skinny. They will fatten up now they have grass to eat.
Oh YES the other New arrival was much prettier, Martinas Son and his wife ( Pat & Kayla ) had this little bundle arrived late saturday ( Just as the German sooth sayer predicted 🙂 ) Anyway she is called Seren-Rose and is …. well I will let you decide :-

Oh yes, I’m still here keeping a careful eye on things.
I can see that progress is being maintained but I’m also detecting a lot of complaining about the weather. I feel that a visit is required, if only to encourage Martina to rise up and throw off the yoke of tyranny! How come you’re never digging ditches? I always thought you were creating Ahern farm, not Animal Farm! “Everyone is equal, but some are more equal than others.” Beware the revolution! The peasants are revolting!
